This head statue is a Roman sculpture of the Augustus , the first Emperor of Rome after caesar's death. This sculpture shows the head of Augustus was once part of a full body statue but was later removed and buried in the steps of a native temple. This statue has perfect proportions according to Classical Greek notions of ideal human form. the calm distant gaze this statue possesses, gave the sculpture an air of quiet strength. Coins, statues were the main media for promoting the image of the Roman emperor or any figure. This statue, like many others throughout the Empire, was made as a reminder of the power of Rome and its emperor.
